Luna

Organized by Laura Valdivia

Please help Luna survive. Her family doesn't know what to do.
Luna finally found a home. Then she got sick with Parvo and was neglected by her vet resulting in severe organ damage...
A couple of days ago I was contacted by Kristal who was distraught because her recent Husky rescue, Luna, was dying. A few weeks ago Luna tested positive for Parvo. On December 13th she was admitted to a recommended animal hospital in Pomona for treatment. When Kristal picked her up on the 16th, she noticed 3 cuts under Luna's arm. She asked after them and the vet's assistant said that said they noticed them on December 14th but that they didn't feel the need to treat them because Luna was already on antibiotics and couldn't get an infection. SHE ALSO SAID THAT THE VET HAD BEEN OUT SICK FOR 2 DAYS AND NO VET HAD BEEN COVERING THE ANIMALS. The vet's assistant sent Kristal and Luna home.

Here is what followed in Kristal's own words...
December 16th 5:00 pm I took Luna home in hopes for a full recovery however the next morning was the beginning of this horrible nightmare. The cuts turned into a huge infected wound that needed care right away. I immediately took Luna to Baseline Animal Hospital in Rancho Cucamonga, CA were the doctor told me the worst news ever. The wound was severely infected and needed extensive surgery to close the wound and that she had liver failure. He was unable to close the wound.

The wound was caused by the injury at the previous vet which went untreated by the doctor causing it to be extremely infected and spread through Luna?¢??s whole body. Contacting the previous vet has been unsuccessful as they do not want to accept responsibility and now I am face with my poor Luna needed emergency 24 hour care for over 1 month for the wound to heal. The estimate for care is at 2500.00 and is climbing day by day because of the extensive care Luna needs to recover. Please help me save Luna. I don't know what else to do.

In the last few days I have received several updates from Kristal. The stitches wouldn't hold and Luna had to admitted to a very expensive 24 hour care area. At that point Kristal was able to scrape together $500 to put towards the bill. I received another update today that Kristal was able to pay another $150 leaving the current balance at $1356 and growing.

Any help that can be offered would be extremely appreciated. The new vet who is trying to save her life has said that if anyone can donate gauze bandages and thermo bandage gel it would help lessen the daily cost of treating her. He has also said that the office would take donations over the phone if people would feel more comfortable donating directly:

A warning
Some of the photos below are graphic and upsetting.
Luna has a family that is terrified because they can't afford to keep paying for her extensive medical bills.
While being hospitalized for Parvo, Luna somehow acquired 3 cuts. The vet said they were "no big deal."
The cuts turned into an infection that spread though her body causing organ damage and failure.
The vet at Baseline said the tissue was decaying so severely that the stitches might not hold.
Luna is still very sick and fighting to survive.
